Creating a thriving multi-cutural arts institution right in the heart of downtown Jackson
Join us as we transform the former Barack H. Obama Magnet Elementary School into a hub of working artist studios, public galleries, a Mississippi Literary Gallery, a Blues and Music Heritage Center, a performance and reading space, arts education programming, and retail space for Mississippi-made art, books, and crafts.

The four galleries, taken together, tell a story no other state can tell: that Mississippi - a small, rural, historically poor state in the American South - produced more transformative artists, across more disciplines, than virtually any comparable place on earth. The Mississippi Arts Enclave exists to give that story a permanent home.
Follow Our Journey
The business case for a Mississippi Arts Enclave rests on a single, demonstrated proposition: a well-conceived arts enclave transforms the community around it. Alexandria, VA proved this.
In 1974, the City of Alexandria, Virginia, made a decision that has since become a national model for civic adaptive reuse. Rather than demolish an abandoned navel munitions factory, the city converted it into an arts center. That decision changed the city forever, bringing artists and lovers of art to experience the famous Torpedo Factory Arts Center.
